Plan for health. Unless you have no responsibilities (which I don’t know anyone in that situation), a healthy lifestyle doesn’t just happen. You have to plan for it. It’s easy to say that you don’t have time to be healthy in “this stage of life.” But if not now, when? We’re all guilty of stopping and starting with our exercise routine, getting so busy we do take out instead of cooking a healthy meal at home or of letting some quiet time for ourselves take a back seat to whatever else is going on. But how do we get back on track? Here’s the short version: Commit to putting yourself first (this isn’t selfish, it’s a necessity!), make a list of how you’re spending your time, figure out which areas of your life are out of alignment, determine which things absolutely have to be done each day, figure out what you can cut out to make time for you, write in a planner (physical or online) all the things that you have to do and then fill in the space you’ve freed up by adding in the time you’re going to spend on yourself.
Basically – it’s prioritizing and scheduling time for you. That’s right – it sounds so simple, but if you don’t literally block the time out and plan how you’re going to fit you in, you’ll get left out.
