Find Your “Why Power.”Before you try to implement any new habits or lifestyle changes, figure out why you want or need to do it. No matter what changes you are trying to make in your life, author and publisher of Success magazine Darren Hardy says in his book The Compound Effect (Affiliate Link) that “Your choices are only meaningful when you connect them to your desires and dreams.” This is what he calls “why power.” It will always be much more effective than relying on willpower because willpower only focuses on what it is you’re trying to do. In a moment of weakness, willpower can fail you at any point.

Dr. Brooke Goldner, M.D. is a best-selling author, the founder of, and creator of the Hyper-Nourishing Nutrition Protocol for Lupus Recovery. She says in Exploring a Plant-Based Diet that “You have to really focus on the life you want, not the food you want because willpower always fails. Why power always wins.”
