Buy organic nuts and seeds. I eat a lot of nuts and seeds, but I’m embarrassed to say that until recently, I didn’t know whether I really need to buy them organic or not. While I try to buy organic as much as I can, I do prioritize according to how bad the pesticide exposure might be. I thought that at least conventionally grown nuts might be safe since they have hard shells that would protect what is inside. As it turns out, according to World Wellness Education, “It is extremely important to purchase organic nuts and seeds.” Why? Because their high oil and fat content makes it so that they easily absorb pesticides. Yes, organic nuts especially, can be a little pricey, but I’ve now moved them up on my priority list because their health benefits make them worth it.
