Buy fresh flowers every week. Buying fresh flowers may seem like a luxury, and if money is truly tight, it is. But if you buy a cup of coffee, a soda or a snack from the vending machine every day, then you can probably indulge in this one little but powerful pleasure. I’m not talking about a bouquet from the florist – that would be too expensive. But flowers from the farmer’s market or a small bunch or stems from the grocery store are very reasonable. Fresh flowers change the entire energy of a room and add brightness and beauty when you may need it most. As the only woman in a house full of men, flowers definitely help to soften things up a bit. If you can’t buy them every week, try every other week, but I highly encourage you to get into the habit of doing this for yourself. It is a gamechanger that you don’t even know you’re missing until you’ve tried it.
