Healthy Action Step of the Day: Eat Fruit for an Afternoon Snack

Eat fruit for an afternoon snack. I don’t know about you, but in the middle of the afternoon, when my energy starts to slump, I want just a little something sweet. If I’m not careful, that ends up being whatever chocolate is around. That’s why I try to make sure I always have some fruit handy that I can grab just as easily as the chocolate. Eating fruit gives you that sweet burst that you may be wanting while providing plenty of valuable nutrients at the same time. Chocolate or other candy can’t say the same. If you think that fruit isn’t going to be enough to do the job, just try it for a while. You can retrain your taste buds, and before long, your brain will recognize that a piece of fruit is all you really needed.

Tip: Eating fruit in season makes it much more affordable! Also, if you’re eating something like grapes or berries, go ahead and portion out baggies or containers for the entire week. That way, you don’t eat it all in one sitting, which can make it very expensive. Most of the time, you just need a little something in the afternoon, so your portion size should be plenty to do the job.
