Really listen to what others are saying. The next time someone says something to you today, stop what you’re doing, make eye contact and really listen. It’s not only respectful to them, but it helps you to be truly engaged in the moment and not feel like there’s just a constant flood of noise coming at you from every direction. When I don’t make a point to do that, I realize how much I’m really not hearing and the moments I’m missing out on.
If you really can’t give someone your full attention, don’t act like you’re trying to. That’s insulting to them, and it will only add to your level of sensory overload. Simply politely let them know that you want to listen to what they have to say, but you can’t right then and ask if you can get back to them.
Truly listening is absolutely an easy, calming and affordable stress reducer. Try it today!
